Under the supervision of the Pre-Construction Manager, the Estimator will be responsible for managing one or more complete estimates while demonstrating a strong command of the entire bidding process. A thorough understanding of project challenges and associated risks is essential to succeed in this role.
What you will do

• You will conduct a general analysis of the plans and specifications to gain an overall understanding of the project.
• You will prepare the estimate, including both direct and indirect project costs.
• You will assist the planning team in building a preliminary work schedule, including the necessary site resources.
• You will identify the specialties, materials, subcontractors, and suppliers that will contribute to the success of your estimate.
• You will build relationships with subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring follow-up to create a comprehensive bid comparison table.
• You will compile the study in the estimating software, incorporating subcontracted tasks, self-performed work, work teams, production rates and ratios, quantities to be completed, etc.
• Quantity calculations required for the estimate will be organized by you, the modeling department, and/or the designer, depending on the case.
• You will analyze the project in detail to anticipate construction methods that involve costs.
• You will assist the Pre-Construction Manager in selecting subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• You will prepare a cash flow curve.
• You will analyze the impact of inflation, risks, and contingencies on the project.
• You will participate in bid closings as well as in the handover and follow-up meetings for the projects.
• In short, you will be a key player from start to finish in the estimating process!

This role could be for you if you have

• Strong writing skills for qualification documents;
• Good ability to work in a team with partners and in close collaboration with the client and other departments (Planning, Methods, Legal, Insurance, etc.);
• Have at least 8 years of relevant experience in estimating and/or project execution;
• Have solid knowledge in some or all of the following areas: formwork, concreting, earthworks, drainage, foundations, marine works;
• Knowledge of the Autodesk suite and Bid2Win is considered an asset;
• Have an advanced level of English;
• Be versatile, analytical, and eager to commit long-term to an estimation team focused on results;
• Have a good understanding of the Eastern Canada market;
