We are looking for a detail-oriented and SAP-proficient Project Accountant to join our finance team on the Cross Fraser Partnership project in British Columbia. The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting financial operations, with a strong focus on Accounts Payable (AP) processing, payment processing, bank reconciliations, period-end closing activities, and third-party/vendor setup—all within an SAP environment.

This role requires a hands-on accounting professional with a strong understanding of SAP FICO modules and experience working on large-scale projects.
What you will do

SAP-Based Financial Operations:
• Process high-volume AP transactions within SAP, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal controls.
• Perform invoice verification and three-way matching using SAP MM and FI modules.
• Maintain vendor master data and execute third-party creation workflows in SAP.
• Ensure correct coding of expenses and cost allocation to WBS elements or internal orders.
• Prepare and execute scheduled payment runs in SAP, including EFT, Wire Transfers
• Address and resolve vendor inquiries related to payment status, discrepancies, and remittances
• Monitor payment clearing accounts and ensure accurate posting and reconciliation
• Maintain payment documentation and support audit trail requirements

Bank Reconciliations:
• Perform regular bank account reconciliation and monitor cash flows in SAP.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies between SAP and bank statements.
• Assist in daily cash positioning and forecasting activities.

Assets:
• Maintain the fixed asset register, ensuring accurate capitalization, disposals, and transfers in accordance with accounting standards and company policy.
• Perform monthly depreciation runs and reconcile fixed asset balances to the general ledger.

Month-End & Period Closing:
• Review and post journal entries and accruals in SAP.
• Prepare any payroll related journal entries and accruals in SAP
• Ensure timely closing of subledgers and general ledgers in accordance with project timelines.
• Support internal/external audits with SAP-sourced reports and documentation.

Regulatory Reporting:
• Prepare and reconcile monthly, quarterly, and annual government reporting (GST, PST, WCB, and other payroll remittances)

Third-Party Management:
• Create and maintain vendor and subcontractor records in SAP.
• Ensure accurate tax setup (e.g., GST, PST) and banking information in master data.
• Coordinate with procurement and compliance teams to validate supporting documents for vendor onboarding.


This role could be for you if you have

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with SAP FICO, particularly AP and GL.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards, GST/HST/PST rules, and banking procedures.
• Experience working in construction, engineering, or infrastructure project environments is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, SAP
