As an MEP Estimator working in our Building Operations team at Pomerleau Construction, you will play a key role in reviewing the bid documents and prepare various types of estimates-design, preliminary, control, or detailed-based on the project requirements. Working on large-scale building and infrastructure projects – ranging from $1.5 million to upwards of $1 billion, your goal will be to secure the contract, allowing Pomerleau to carry out the construction work.
What you will do

· Evaluate quantities of materials and manpower for key work.
· Prepare quantity summaries based on drawings and specifications, categorized by sections and trades.
· Assist in selecting design, equipment, and suppliers.
· Attend coordination meetings and site visits and assess project difficulty.
· Research project-specific prices for materials and subcontracting.
· Invite subcontractors, provide necessary documents, and grant access to virtual drawing rooms.
· Verify amounts from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure alignment with bid documents.
· Coordinate estimating efforts for "Design-Build" projects and maintain contact with subcontractors and suppliers.
· Suggest cost-saving alternatives to bid documents and support the estimation department with technical expertise.
· Develop preliminary work schedules and assist in bid closing.

This role could be for you if you have

· Technical diploma in mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
· 5+ years of relevant experience in commercial and institutional project estimation for a specialized subcontractor or engineering firm.
· Experience in “Design-Build” type projects.
· Excellent technical knowledge in electrical and mechanical building systems.
· Possess excellent skills in reading drawings and specifications, combined with strong analytical abilities.
· Familiarity with OST, Excel, Autocad-MEP and Revit-MEP software.
· Knowledge of the local construction market.
