Reporting to the Director of Communications for Major Projects, the Media Relations Manager plays a strategic role within Pomerleau. The individual will be responsible for advising the CEO, the executive team, and other key stakeholders on the best influence and positioning strategies; managing media relations; proactively monitoring emerging issues; supporting crisis management; and producing high‑value content.
This role requires a strong understanding of the Canadian political, economic, and media landscape; mature political judgment; collaborative leadership; and a strong ability to propose ideas and influence stakeholders.
What you will do


Strategic Advisory
• Advise key stakeholders on positioning, key messages, and public trends.
• Recommend approaches, strategies, and positions to strengthen Pomerleau’s reputation with stakeholders.
• Prepare spokespersons for interviews, panels, speeches, and public engagements.
• Work closely with internal teams such as government relations, legal, business units, etc.
• Develop and maintain business relationships with key industry organizations.
• Manage and oversee the work of external public relations consultants.
Media Relations
• Act as a spokesperson or coach and support designated spokespersons.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists.
• Plan and execute proactive communication strategies (launches, announcements, media tours).
• Write and distribute press releases, messages, and Q&As.
Issues Management and Crisis Management
• Ensure daily media monitoring and identify emerging risks.
• Develop and implement crisis management plans in collaboration with internal teams.
• Support key stakeholders during sensitive situations or those with high reputational impact.
Content Production
• Write speeches, op-eds, issue briefs, key messages, analyses, and strategic documents.
• Conduct research to support the organization’s public positions.



This role could be for you if you have



• More than 10 years of experience in public relations, public affairs, or journalism.
• A university degree in public relations, communications, journalism, or a related field.
• Strong experience working with senior leaders (CEOs, elected officials, ministers).
• Recognized leadership skills, with the ability to mobilize, coach, develop, and advance talent within the team.
• A strategic mindset, able to execute plans rigorously and work effectively in a matrix environment.
• Mature political judgment, strong ability to propose ideas and influence stakeholders, and excellent communication skills.

• A strong interest in major projects, economics, politics, innovation, and community development.
