As an Environmental Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting the project team to ensure full compliance with environmental laws, contractual requirements, as well as project-specific conditions and commitments. Through your communication, collaboration, and adaptability skills, you will help foster a positive and proactive culture focused on environmental awareness and regulatory compliance, both within your team and across the broader Pomerleau family.
What you will do

• Report to the project environmental manager, the project manager, and/or the regional environmental manager (the reporting structure will depend on the project assignment).
• Participate in updating project-specific environmental management plans and preparing permit applications, and contribute to work planning by ensuring environmental requirements are integrated into execution documents.
• Deliver awareness training sessions and environmental emergency response drills to project staff, including subcontractors.
• Take part in safety talks, field kick-off meetings, and work coordination meetings.
• Monitor construction activities to ensure environmental and regulatory compliance, documenting observations, implemented best practices, improvement opportunities, non-compliance cases, and collecting evidence to support compliance.
• Implement soil and water sampling plans in accordance with provincial and federal guidelines and contractual requirements to gather environmental quality data that can serve as performance indicators.
• Respond to environmental emergencies that cause or could cause impacts on receiving environments.
• Prepare regular and thorough environmental monitoring reports, as well as environmental incident and spill reports.
• Incorporate the environmental management system into your duties, track performance indicators, and contribute to achieving corporate environmental objectives.


This role could be for you if you have

• Completed a post-secondary program in environmental sciences, forestry, engineering, biology, geology, or a related field.
• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in the environmental field, ideally in construction or projects involving water management.
• Solid knowledge of provincial and federal environmental laws and regulations, applicable guidelines, and recognized best practices, particularly regulations related to wetlands, water bodies, and sensitive areas (REAFIE, RAMHHS, PRMHH).
• Knowledge and experience in managing large volumes of water, building access roads and installing culverts in wetlands and water bodies, and controlling erosion and sedimentation.
• Understanding of water treatment system operations and ability to implement a water quality monitoring program.
• Ability to work independently while being an effective team player.
• Certification from the joint health and safety association for the construction sector (ASP Construction).
• A valid driver’s license.
