As an Environmental Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the project team to ensure full compliance with environmental laws, contractual requirements, as well as project-specific conditions and commitments. Thanks to your communication, collaboration, and adaptability skills, you will help foster a positive and proactive culture focused on environmental awareness and regulatory compliance, both within your team and across the entire Pomerleau family.
What you will do

• Report to the project’s Environmental Manager, Project Manager, and/or Regional Environmental Manager (the reporting structure will depend on project assignment).
• Ensure compliance with project-specific environmental management plans, permits, and authorizations, and contribute to work planning by integrating environmental requirements into execution documents.
• Participate in safety talks, site kickoff meetings, and work coordination sessions.
• Monitor construction activities to ensure environmental and regulatory compliance, documenting observations, best practices, improvement opportunities, non-conformities, and collecting evidence of compliance.
• Implement soil and water sampling plans in accordance with provincial and federal guidelines to gather environmental quality data as performance indicators.
• Collect soil, sediment, groundwater, or surface water samples and complete laboratory analysis requests.
• Perform on-site physico-chemical analyses using turbidimeters, colorimeters, or multi-parameter probes, as required.
• Respond to planned or unplanned environmental emergencies that may cause or risk impacts on receiving environments.
• Work closely with the Project Environmental Lead to support the preparation of regular and rigorous environmental monitoring reports, as well as incident and spill reports.
• Apply the environmental management system in daily tasks, track performance indicators, and contribute to achieving corporate environmental objectives.

This role could be for you if you have

• Post-secondary degree in environmental sciences, forestry, engineering, or related field
• 3–5 years of relevant experience, ideally in construction or wind energy projects
• Strong knowledge of environmental laws and regulations (RADF, REAFIE, RAMHHS, PRMHH)
• Experience in forest clearing, road building, erosion control, and water management
• Self-starter with strong teamwork skills
• ASP Construction certification and valid driver’s license
