Are you a litigation lawyer looking to join a disputes team without giving up your practice of pleading before judges, arbitrators, or mediators? As Legal Counsel within the Prevention, Dispute Resolution, and Litigation team, you will represent Pomerleau and its subsidiaries before the courts in complex and stimulating matters, and you will support major construction projects ranging from $1.5 million to over $1 billion.
What you will do

• Draft pleadings, conduct examinations, review expert reports, and prepare and lead trials and hearings before judicial, administrative, or arbitration tribunals;
• Support and advise senior management and project management teams on various legal issues affecting the company’s operations;
• Draft or review legal notices or other correspondence required to preserve the company’s rights in ongoing projects, including, among others, notices of claim, dispute notices, mediation notices, and arbitration notices;
• Lead settlement discussions, including settlement conferences and mediation sessions;
• Occasionally liaise with external legal counsel, notably in matters involving health and safety, bankruptcy and insolvency, BSDQ, and other issues;
• Perform any other related tasks connected to legal issues affecting the company’s operations and those of its subsidiaries.



This role could be for you if you have

• A Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and membership in the Quebec Bar;
• Between 5 and 7 years of litigation experience;
• Good knowledge of construction law is an asset;
• Ability to demonstrate initiative, autonomy, versatility, and strong teamwork skills;
• Ability to quickly grasp complex issues and work with numerous stakeholders at all levels;
• A solution‑oriented analytical mindset;
• Excellent negotiation and persuasion skills;
• Good knowledge of relevant IT tools and software, including Microsoft Office applications and case law research engines;

• Occasionally, travel may be required.
