Pomerleau is seeking an experienced and results-driven MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) Operations Lead to support the successful delivery of complex construction projects, including large-scale healthcare infrastructure such as the WAHA Redevelopment Project in Northern Ontario.

Reporting to the MEP Senior Operations Lead, this role is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of all MEP systems across the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with design intent, schedule, budget, and quality standards. Acting as a key interface between design teams, subcontractors, and leadership, the MEP Operations Lead plays a critical role in driving performance, resolving technical challenges, and ensuring all systems are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and project requirements. In addition, the MEP Operations Lead will build out processes and best practices to be implemented across Pomerleau projects.

This is a rotational position based in Moosonee, Ontario, operating on a fly-in/fly-out schedule of 14 days on and 7 days off.
What you will do

1. Provide MEP expertise for the assigned projects.
a. Act as an electromechanical reference on projects of great complexity or scope (design, construction, commissioning)
2. Execute the role of MEP Operations Lead by.
a. Reviewing / actioning as needed on trade partner schedule deliverables and planning:
i. Look ahead schedules
ii. Submittal schedules
iii. Commissioning schedules
iv. Overall trade project schedules
v. Review and approval of trade partner recovery schedules, as needed
b. Attending project meetings; short interval planning, design, schedule and commissioning meetings
c. Reviewing MEP trade partner submittal packages prior to official submittal to the consultant:
i. Ensure compliance with appropriate specification section(s) and equipment schedules
ii. Risk assess and review any cost savings proposals, alternate equipment, or other alternative MEP trade partner proposals that differ from the contract documents.
iii. Review for constructability, space constraints, weight, electrical configuration, controls integration, etc. as per MEP design and compliant with architectural and structural constraints
iv. Schedule check – lead time & delivery date lines up with project schedule.
d. Engaging / planning of any OFCI (owner furnished contractor installed) MEP equipment
i. Shop drawing review per above
ii. Arrival inspection, work with temporary storage provider & trade partner as needed
e. Reviewing and commenting on all MEP trade partner change order pricing, T&M work orders, and delay or other notices/claims
f. Actively engage in the project schedule development to ensure that a viable achievable schedule is created
g. Reviewing and support trade partners in review, preparation, and submission in RFIs
h. Driving, owning commissioning planning, project closeout, and other key deliverables and process areas on a project specific basis. Approve Quality and Commissioning plans from our MEP trade partners and manage the third party Cx agent.
i. Regular site reviews and completing MEP progress reports
j. Ongoing active risk identification and risk management related to MEP scope
k. Reviewing MEP trade partner progress claims/ other billings for accuracy and fairness
l. Participating in VDC/ BIM – clash detection and progress meetings, manage MEP trade partner engagement and deliverables
m. Ensuring compliance with all Pomerleau and project specific MEP QA/QC plans and programs
n. Attending & monitoring inspections by AHJ (authorities having jurisdiction)
o. Tracking, monitoring and logging all relevant inspection approvals, rejections, notices, etc.
p. Building a strong win/win relationship with the MEP consultants and trade partners to support the project
q. Promoting, supporting and enforcing all relevant Pomerleau Occupational Health and Safety requirements, programs and initiatives
3. Support, guide, and manage junior MEP Ops team members
4. Support the estimating department as required

This role could be for you if you have
1. 15 + years of MEP construction experience.
2. Licensed trade background (Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, Plumbing) or Engineering designation preferred.
3. Minimum 5-10 years managing MEP scopes on highly complex projects.
4. Demonstrated experience taking at least one major project from procurement through design, construction, commissioning, turnover, and warranty.
5. Experience managing MEP contracts valued in excess of $50M.
