Job Description

Ready to build your career? We want to hear from you.
As an Estimator within the Water & Wastewater Civil Operations team at Pomerleau Construction, you will play a key role in the preconstruction and bidding efforts for large scale municipal and infrastructure projects across Ontario and Canada. Working as part of a collaborative estimating and preconstruction team, you will support the development of competitive, accurate, and well structured bids on projects typically ranging from $25M to $250M in value.
This role is ideal for an early career estimator looking to deepen their technical skills, gain exposure to complex infrastructure projects, and grow within a structured, team based preconstruction environment.
What you will do
Reporting to the Preconstruction Manager and working closely with senior estimators and project stakeholders, you will:
• Contribute to the full bid and preconstruction lifecycle, supporting estimating activities from early review through tender submission.
• Perform detailed and accurate quantity take offs in accordance with drawings, specifications, and divisional standards.
• Define and document scopes of work in alignment with master form divisional specifications.
• Prepare and issue subcontractor requisition packages by discipline, supporting the procurement of competitive pricing.
• Assist in identifying project specific pricing for labour, equipment, materials, and subcontracted work.
• Accurately interpret technical drawings and specifications with a strong attention to detail.
• Support schedule driven pricing by understanding construction sequencing and the overall construction lifecycle.
• Participate in constructability reviews and assist with the identification of risks, constraints, and opportunities.
• Maintain awareness of client pricing requirements and project feasibility considerations.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with trade partners, consultants, and internal project teams.
• Contribute ideas and innovative approaches that support value, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

This role could be for you if you have:
• 1–3 years of relevant estimating experience in the construction or civil infrastructure industry.
• A University Degree, College Diploma, or Certificate in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field — or an equivalent combination of education and industry experience.
• Experience supporting bid preparation, quantity take offs, or cost analysis on construction projects.
• Strong analytical skills and a disciplined, detail oriented approach to work.
• The ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment and communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders.
• A solid understanding of the construction bid process and a willingness to learn and grow within a structured preconstruction function.
Benefits
• RRSP with up to 5% employer matching

• Hybrid work model for corporate roles
• Employee stock ownership program
• Career growth through real development opportunities
• Transit pass reimbursement — get to work for free
• Minimum 4 weeks of vacation from day one
