As a Health & Safety Advisor – Marine Construction (Oil & Gas) at Pomerleau Construction, your mission is clear: to protect lives, one protocol at a time. Working on large-scale construction projects - from $1.5 million to over $1 billion - you'll ensure that health and safety on our sites and in our offices is not just a policy, but a way of life.

This role will be based in Squamish, British Columbia (Marine Project Site). The shifts for this role is 14 days on / 7 days off, with a schedule of 12-hour shifts (Nightshift may be required from time to time)

The candidates must be comfortable with working on Barges, Daily transportation via small vessels, and comfortable climbing ladders and utilizing gangways
What you will do

An experienced Health & Safety Advisor is required to support a large-scale, Tier 1 oil and gas marine construction project. The successful candidate will operate within a high-risk, dynamic work environment, providing frontline safety leadership, regulatory guidance, and direct engagement with supervisors, workers, and subcontractors.

This role requires a field-focused safety professional capable of influencing safe work execution, enforcing compliance with WorkSafeBC legislation, and contributing to the development and implementation of project-specific safety programs and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide active field presence and oversight across multiple subcontractor trades to ensure compliance with project safety requirements and regulatory standards
• Coach, mentor, and support field supervisors and workers in the execution of safe work practices and adherence to company policies and procedures
• Identify, assess, and respond to evolving site hazards, applying appropriate controls to mitigate risk in real time
• Lead and support the development, review, and implementation of Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs), Safe Work Procedures (SWPs), and other critical safety documentation
• Intervene as required in unsafe situations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented effectively and consistently
• Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action tracking
• Promote a proactive safety culture through engagement, communication, and leadership in the field
• Ensure alignment with WorkSafeBC OHS Regulations, Pomerleau and client programs / polices and applicable industry standards

This role could be for you if you have:

• Minimum 3+ years’ experience on a Tier 1 oil and gas or major industrial construction project
• 14/7 shifts availability
• Marine construction experience is considered a strong asset
• Proven experience managing and overseeing multiple subcontractor trades in a complex work environment
• Strong working knowledge of WorkSafeBC OHS legislation and industry best practices
• Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in high-pressure, dynamic environments
• Experience developing high-quality safety documentation aligned with oil and gas industry standards
• Strong understanding of hazard identification, risk assessment, and control implementation
• Professional designations such as CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional), CRST (Canadian Registered Safety Technician), or NEBOSH IGC (International General Certificate) are considered an asset

Work Environment

• Fast-paced marine construction setting with multiple concurrent operations
• Exposure to high-risk activities including lifting operations, working at heights, and work over water
• Collaboration with a highly skilled and experienced marine workforce
