The Senior Design Coordinator assists the design management team in coordinating the design of the project at each stage of the design development and finalization process. Depending on the project’s size and characteristics, they may be assigned specific management responsibilities for a particular area of the project and/or technical responsibilities based on their expertise.
What you will do

• Familiarize yourself with the documents supplied by the client during the proposal phase and/or the project documents during the execution phase (design-build contract, contracts with professionals, client’s technical requirements, etc.).
• Coordinate the professionals involved (architects, professional engineers and specialized consultants) during design development.
• Ensure that established objectives and schedules are respected for the production of deliverables.
• Manage technical documentation and documentation review steps using the Procore document management system.
• Effectively communicate required technical information and drawings to the estimation department, as well as to suppliers and subcontractors involved in the project.
• Optimize the design (alternative analysis, value analysis, etc.) and review the impact on time frames and costs, in synergy with the construction team, while ensuring constructability.
• Participate in the design committee with relevant stakeholders and take minutes as required.
• Ensure that the selected design modelling approach (BIM) is properly implemented and used, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
• Follow-up on the client’s design requirements, make the connections between the different disciplines and ensure that the requirements are met.


This role could be for you if you have

• Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in engineering, architecture or related field.
• Member of a professional body (OAA).
• Minimum of 5-8 years of professional experience in a design development role.
• Experience in ports or other marine projects is a must.
• Able to demonstrate initiative, innovation and rigour.
• Good knowledge of virtual BIM-VDC modelling.
• Excellent ability to analyze and review, good sense of judgment and excellent communication skills.
• Able to work effectively with all project team members.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stress well.
